Weseman Photo Reunited with Family

September 22nd, 2014

You may remember about a month ago, we published a photo of who we believed was Bertha Weseman.  One of our customers who came upon the photo years ago gave it to Florahome Station to try to reunite the photo to the family it belonged to.  This Sunday (9/21/2014) we were finally able to get the picture back into the hands of the family.

Now, we have learned the picture may not be Bertha Weseman, but an Aunt (her sister).  We will let everyone know when we have an update.  Kathryn mom (Ruth Miller Gornto) and Kathy’s mom (Helen Weseman Preston) were best friends and schoolmates…  They also both apparently really liked the name Kathy.

Bertha Knight Weseman (1878-1959)

Picture of Bertha Knight Weseman (1878-1959)… Ms. Weseman was the matriarch of the Weseman family which built the two story house which sits just off of the town part on Ohio St.  She was extremely active in the community and was one of Florahome’s pioneers.

Halverson’s Garage

May 30th, 2014

Halverson’s Garage sat on the corner of Cedar St. and HWY 100 in Florahome, FL …  It was bought some time in the 1970’s by Jimmy Murray and was torn down some time in the 1980’s.  This is a nice artist’s rendition of what it looked like.
